a different bandit

posted Sunday, 25 November 2007

While we were visiting in Missouri we hooked dad up with a GPS and he's now on his way to caching.  We went with him for one on Thanksgiving in the dark then the following day (his birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD) he found 5 caches.  That's more than we did our entire first year.  :)  At one of the caches he did he found a dead bandit and had Haden hold it up for a photo.  So, here you see Haden and the original bandit.

Haden and the bandit

Side note: Haden is staying with his grandparents until Christmas.  We'll go back to pick him up then.  He's homeschooled and his school is on his computer.  I have total confidence that his grandparents will keep him going, probably better than I do.

Second side note: Our geocaching name is bandits.  We did a 4 caches a few years ago then never found anymore until October 2006.  We found 2555 by our 1 year anniversary last month and planted 100 for other people to find.  Here's our map of finds in one year, Pennsylvania and Maine were caches done from a distance, we didn't actually go there.  We also did a long distance virtual that you could do from your house, here's the "address" GCF55A if you want to check it out.  That type of cache is called an armchair cache and there aren't many of those out there. I'll show you our new map once we're home.

For those of you unfamiliar with caching I have written a little about it before with some links to more info, you can find those entries here, and here, and here.

We'll be home tomorrow and I'll start catching up and showing more photos from our trip.  Right now I can't get them from the camera and onto the computer so we have to wait.
