You may remember seeing this cake (DQ of course) a few days ago. We had thought we would take Haden camping for his birthday but with the weather we keep having we wussed out. We did however take him to the Archery Range to sight his new bow.
Dennis needed to sight his too. I guess this is when they adjust the little dealybobber to where they can hit the bull’s-eye.

Looks like they need a little more adjusting.
I quickly got bored and went in search of critters.
I found a singing sparrow.
Boring.
But then a tiny frog came hopping by. He stopped long enough to say hello!
And as Haden was doing this, I looked up and. . .
. . . a hawk soared above.
I’m not so sure Haden noticed.
While the ants busily built their home,
Haden practiced on. In fact we left him there, maybe we’ll pick him up next year.
Am I first? I don't think I've ever been first over here! ;-) Anyway,
wanted to say that I love the cake, and man, there really are some amazing
critters where you are, and you REALLY have the eye. Your photos
continuously amaze me. ;-)
Hi Lisa, wonderful photos as always! Sorry I'm just arriving to catch up on
this week's entries, been a super busy week and weekend too! I sure hope
you are feeling better by now. Big hugs to you!
Great photo story!
Great photos. Yes, it looks as if Hadon would be happy if you left him for
a week, or more. Hope everything is going well for you. We're roasting
here, it's going to be 100 degrees, today.
I love that picture of the frog! My daughter loves to shoot with a bow. She
wants one for her birthday. I don't know many 15 year old girls that ask
for gifts like that but she's probably going to get one LOL
I love how you find something to do!
I need to sit with you so you can show me how to use my camera better.
Your C.U. shots always amaze me. I wonder if it's possible to get an arrow
in flight...That's a serious bow, btw.
That's a cute post - and great photos. It reminds me of a time when
Thomas' car broke down on the side of the road, and instead of grumping
about it, he took photos of all the little critters in the field next to
him.
Oh what a FANTASTIC time and I love, love, love those macro shots. Always
have, always will. Was that with the 100mm f/2.8? That is my favorite
lens!
You can't leave him there. You gotta feed him from time to time ;)
Caleb had a birthday party at a shooting range once. The boys and their
dads had a great time, but I was bored out of my mind. Too bad I didn't
have a camera then.
At least you can do something while being bored with guy stuff. Our kids
have gone to the archery shop for field trips and phys ed to do archery.
Our best shot is C who is 13. There are mostly macho guys in her class who
out run her on the the basketball, volleyball and whatever court although
she is very competitive and she was the one who got the bullseye and the
most points in archery.
Wonderful photos it lloks like you all had a really fun time.
BTW I've moved from DC Days to a new site, so do come and visit :)
Awesome photos. Zachary really wants a bow.
The boys were camping this past weekend up by Waupaca for Scouts.
LOL Great post. Found your site via Me and My puppies.. We have two boys
and they are both archery fanatics as is my husband( although they shoot
primitive archery). I loved the way you put this together. (grin) When my
husband and I got together many moons ago he tried to get me into
shooting bows with him.. I tried and had fun ( not so much because of the
shooting, but for the sharing of his passion) but always told him it is
like playing frisbee by your self.. :-) thanks for sharing
