We took a little look around on a trail before we headed on up the mountains. As Dennis and Haden ran ahead of me to get a geocache, I dilly-dallied taking a few photos. First I came upon these tiny little wildflowers.
And a couple interesting plants.
I swear I’ve seen this stuff for sale at Wal-Mart.
What is this stuff? It reminds me of artichoke.
I kept hearing this noise that reminded me of crickets all around me. It didn’t take long to determine the source of the noise.
I know those aren’t awesome hummingbird photos but that’s all I could catch in this spot. (Better hummers later.)
A cute little what’s-it bird. That’s as close as he’d let me get.
And a Black-billed Magpie, or two.
I was very curious about these birds; it was the first time I had ever seen one. I’m not sure if I ever got a better photo of them or not. You see I still haven’t looked at all the photos I took yet. But, I wanted a Magpie to stand still for just a moment and let me examine it. Instead, they wanted to hide in the tall grasses or fly away when I aimed the lens. Maybe they smelled me. Did you know they can use scent to locate food, unlike most birds?
Beautiful shots. Thanks for sharing. Happy WW!
Enjoyed this little walk in nature. I appreciate your noting what I'm
looking at since I'm unfamiliar with a lot of them. By the way, I'm
looking forward to your easier commenting format!
Beautiful photos! Happy belated WW and thanks so much for stopping by
yesterday. :)
We live in the land of the Magpies. Some people really like them - some
people really hate them. I guess it depends if you are a farmer or not.
They are hard on animals. Horrid in fact - but I won't go into it. When I
first moved here I was really taken by them. They are so pretty and rather
large. They make quite a squawk tho. I still am really taken with them -
but then I'm not a farmer.
Lisa, I never tire of seeing the world through your eyes. These are such
beautiful portraits. I also enjoyed the doggie shots and especially liked
reading a little more about their personalities - funny how there's so much
more than what a photo can tell. I appreciated reading your thoughts on
your cancer and all the feelings you experienced. Life is not all that
long and without reminders like these, we forget. Thank you for sharing so
transparently.
Love the tree top pic especially, and those Magpies look so fancy. Or
they're going to a catering job.
Beautiful and its even more fun if you go with someone...with similar
taste...
What beautiful photos!! I have no idea what that artichoke look-a-like
plant is.
OOHH I just love these photos!! I can't get over how beautiful they are!!
Iam thinking you should be in national Geographic!!
You have such a good eye for pictures, Lisa!!! No one does it better than
you. These ROCK!!! I didn't realize you were on vacation...what a cool
vacation this must have been for you!!! Hope you are feeling well...
