Among the errands I ran Friday morning was a trip to Wal-Mart. On my way out the door the Greeter gave me an umbrella. Yes, a free umbrella just for shopping at Wal-Mart, how great is that?!
We are an umbrella less house and there’s a reason for that. I melt in the rain therefore stay indoors until the sky is clear. No, seriously, umbrellas are cumbersome, inconvenient and what the heck do you do with them when you’re not using it?
So, I tucked my free umbrella into the back of the Rav4 while contemplating when and how I could use it.. You know, just to see how it would feel. See if I could make a change and we could join society once more. Attempt to become an umbrella loving family.
But, it was not to be. We will remain forever umbrella free, I suppose. But was it fate that I was given an umbrella right before one was needed? And if it was, why wasn’t I given three of them?
While driving home from geocaching last night, we saw a sight we have never seen. There was a car on the shoulder of the road wrapped in flames and we saw three people running away from the car to stand on the far side of the highway. After a few moments of contemplation we drove up to the men (they all made it out) standing in the rain. We offered help but were pretty helpless. We did, however, have an umbrella. Not a very good replacement for a 2007 Equinox.
