Hiding my head

posted Saturday, 25 August 2007

Am I the only person in the world who hates Utube (or YouTube)?! Or actually any video clips period? I like to read the news but if I see it’s a video clip I do not click. I like to read blogs but if I see any sort of video clips count me out. The last several cameras I have had have had the ability to record clips (as have my cell phones) but I never use it. I just don’t like video clips.

I must be a freak!

I used to hate video clips before I finally got broadband, now I don't mind, in fact I even post them myself. But they're not for everyone and you are entitled to your opinion. But if I do post a clip, it's usually all I post. If I want to illustrate a post I use photos.

Utube? You Mean Youtube?

Maybe your just not looking at the right clips? Why look at news....Look at things you like, movie clips..etc. Sometimes I like catching up on funny cartoons from my past, and sometimes really really old school ones like porky, and then the other day I was watching the fresh prince of bel air episodes and such. Theres a plethora of things that can keep the mind interested, but you gotta use your noggin.

Well it wouldn't do if we were all the same. I actually quite like videos and I have often put a series of photos into a slide show as I thought this was easier for people to view than having to upload masses of photos in one post. Although it's gratifying when people look at what you've done I respect the fact that it's a turn off for some and that's Ok with me.

I know a lot of people don't like YouTube, you're definitely not alone. I personally like them and have sat and laughed at some great videos.

I have seen a few people who do not like YouTube. I love it but only watch something funny. Robocop will watch anything on YouTube. Thing 1 will look for music. She cracks me up. But don't hang your head in shame. We are all different and that is what makes things interesting. :)

I'm with you on the news. I hate how CNN.com mixes the video clips in with the news articles. I'll read an interesting headline, only to see that it's actually a video. Even with broadband, I don't like waiting for the clip to load, and I don't like sitting through the commercial. (However, if I know for sure that's it Jeannie Moos, I'd wait; unfortunately, I never know if it's going to be Jeannie Moos.)

On the other hand, I do enjoy YouTube. For example, I recently went online and watched a bunch of clips from a comedian I like named Demetri Martin. (I ended up posting one of his quotes on my blog, but interestingly, I didn't embed the YouTube clip.)

I don't seem to mind them as much on blogs as long as it's just an occasional thing. I can skip them if I want. But I really get annoyed when CNN.com has a news story only as a video. I never watch them on there, and instead, I'll just google the story to "read" it on another site.
