Next up, Mount Rushmore National Memorial.
You can see it from the road. Mostly, I like this photo because of the flag in the foreground.
Walking up from the parking. I thought all the flags were kinda cool.
Almost there.
Closer still and I like it. But, I wasn’t satisfied with that, I wanted to feel like I could reach out and pick his nose. So I grabbed the 400mm lens and, let’s pick some noses. Oops, is that disrespectful?
I kissed Abe’s cheek. Ok, not really. But it feels like you could, doesn’t it?
The lines are where cracks had occurred and have been repaired.
As we were leaving we came upon another herd.
See you at the next stop.
You got some really good up close and friendly photos !
REALLY really cool. :)
I would love to see Mount Rushmore. Even if we never get there, your
photographs are a great preview. Did you see National Treasure 2? Mount
Rushmore is an important location in the movie.
Wow, these shots are gorgeous!!! I was just watching a special on Travel
Channel last nght about Mt. Rushmore, so this was perfect timing! LOL
I love Mt. Rushmore. Your photos are spectacular, of course.
We saw it at night. It was fabulous! I didn't know there were lines in the
faces. The zoom sure shows a ton doesn't it? Imagine getting up there and
fixing the cracks.....
Those are some great photos of Mt. Rushmore. I wanted to visit that on my
trip back from Alaska, but I was having car trouble and had to take an
alternate route to avoid SD.
Oh man I've missed so much over here! Just went through all the entries I'd
missed along the way. What great shots as always! How's your hubby's head
after the smoting? (or is that smoteing - or being smoted?). That entry
just cracked me up! I also want to know why those grave markers are so
close in the compact cemetary entry -- kinda creepy. I hope to be around on
a regular basis again soon!
I love the last photo, so cute I could see captioning it.
I was at rushmore as a teen and it was great.
You are going to have to start your own travel blog. I have been so
inspired by your photos the past few months.
Great photos! I'll have to show these to my boys!
I can't believe you didn't take the ultra cool touristy shot where your
family members stand so that they be come heads on the mountain next to
those other guys. I took some of BN when we traveled cross country. It
was funny.
That LAST shot is DA BOMB, seriously, that is my favorite!
Cute prairie dog. I didn't even have a zoom when we visited Rushmore. These
are really cool pictures. Makes me feel like Eva Marie Saint chasing all
over the mountain. My best Rushmore picture, and the only one with me in it
from 4½ weeks of travel was reflected in the visitor center windows wall. I
am assuming it has not been eliminated by remodeling--it's been years.
