Only in Wisconsin, or is it? We attended the 2nd Annual Outhouse Races in Perkinstown, put on by the Chequamegon (pronounced sha-wahma-gann) Wildlife & Recreation Club, mostly because we had never heard of such a thing!
Four pushers and one squatter were on each team and they raced their homemade potty on a short course including one long downhill and one short uphill stretch. I must admit it was pretty entertaining!
Lining up to get their numbers.
Lining up for the race, start and finish in the same spot.
I situated myself in a good position to see each one full of energy taking off. . .
. . .struggling up the short hill. . .
. . .and finishing exhausted.
There were 12 teams (4 more than last year) and one team was entirely women - The Ladies of the Loo.
I think it’s safe to say all the squatters had fun!
But I had the most fun watching the stumbling on the hill.
One squatter got scared enough to actually poo themselves, thankfully they were already in an outhouse. Too bad the loo had a leak.
OMG! Outhouse Races! Wow...who knew??? You guys are always doing
something exciting and different!! Looks like fun!!
Yoopers have been doing this for a while ... google "Trenary Outhouse".
Trenary is a village that has a handful of residents. Every year (since I
can remember started in the early 90s) on a February weekend, they have
thousands of visitors to watch the Outhouse Classic.
Bonnie beat me to it. Yes, Trenary (rhymes with "canary") has been having
outhouse races since 1994. And I bet there are places that have been doing
it much longer! :)
LOL that is the funniest thing I have heard, great photos too.
How funny!
My gosh, that looks like fun - all the way around. Fun to participate in
and fun to watch! Thanks for sharing.
Some people just have all the fun!! I'd love to leave a really wry funny
comment about outhouses - but I just don't have it in me - or I can't give
a s**t? (okay - I tried)
This is hilarious! I would never in a million years been able to think
something like that up LOL We'll have to make a trip up there one year to
see that.
Your photos are beautiful and that snow looks so pretty. Looks like ya'll
really had fun.
Wow. I think that's all I can say. I'm just stunned at such a spectacle.
Yes, I agree. Only in Wisconsin.
We don't have outhouse races, but we have at one time or another had
bathtub races and lawnmower races.
I'm glad you have so many great photos, because I wouldn't have believed it
any other way.
This is positivey hysterical! It must have been one fun day! :)
cool. they had outhouse racing but i'm sure it was on foot in the street
and carrying it versus pushing it in the show.
Hil-arious! I linked to it from my site...
Funniest thing I've seen online in quite some time. Thanks, Lisa!
That seems like that event should happen where I live now...it's awesome!
My dad tipped over an outhouse as a kid (in rural Vermont in the 1930's or
40's) so perhaps if I competed, I would flush away the competition! Sorry,
couldn't resist the cheesiness of it all.
That is way cool, except maybe the leaking on ;-). My first thought, being
the redneck I am, "I have 2 pairs of old skis I have been wondering how to
use them in a project". Now I know. I see some of them used skis. What a
fun event.
I LOVED this (being a native only of course). Great shots, what a fun
time?
What a hoot! You guys have so much fun stuff going on. I can't help but
think that those guys should put more clothes on though!
I've never seen anything like this.
This is cool :D!
Whaha ha ha ha! I've seen it all now! Mind you, we race cheese in this
country so who are we to laugh!?
Holy crap (uh, bad choice of words?), that's freakin' hillarious!
you just find the most interesting things. I've got to get out more; Or,
better yet, get out with YOU.
that is hilarious! you all know how to have fun.
Excellent find, Lisa! I'm not sure where that is, but it looks a lot less
drippy than around here. Your photos are the sh*ts as they say. Uh, that's
a good thing.
OOHH my gosh how fricken fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I put a link to you on todays
post about this!! i just had to see my visitors reaction to this!!
HOLY MOLY!!! That is tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo FUNNY!!! You know
I've never seen anything like that....being from Texas!!!! lol =) LOVE
