Jacksonport Polar Bear Club or how I spent New Year's Day
We made the drive up to Door County on New Year’s day to watch the 22nd Annual Polar Bear Swim (plunge) in Jacksonport, Wisconsin. It was 25 degrees when we got there, so maybe you can imagine how cold that water must have been. I have not quite decided if the people doing the swim are brave, or just a little touched in the head.
These guys are firemen and they stood out in the water at the most distant point, in case someone needed help, I assume. Makes you feel all warm and cozy, doesn’t it?
One little Chicky got a little antsy and did her swim a little early.

Young, old, even a dog participated.
And a couple of latecomers.
I really don’t know the numbers of how many participated 850 swimmers, nor how many spectators. Overall, a much larger turnout than we expected. We’ve wanted to attend one of these since we moved here but this was our first time. Next year Khristiaan wants to take a dive.

I cannot disagree with anyone! Your new header is absolutely perfect! and
those bears? definitely touched!
these people are out of their freakin' minds! i can barely tolerate a
lukewarm shower in a heated bathroom. but then, i'm a wuss like that. fun
photos, though. thanks for sharing them!
What a post to read as I sit here freezing in my layers and SmartWool
socks! I don't know why I'm so cold today. Everyone else seems to be
fine.

That is totally crazy!! I think I may need to try sometime though! Roger
and I decided to Snow dip New Year's Eve. We ran out in the back yard buck
naked and made snow angels. Really cold and pretty crazy, but a memory to
last a lifetime. I have to say my snow angle had a nicer crack than
Roger's did! Ha-Ha

We have something a little similar here, but I don't know when they do it.
People water ski the Mighty Mississippi and raise money for charity.
I like your header also...and I agree, they are bonkers!! Do they actually
swim or just get in and get out? Either way they are crazy..I was
shivering just looking at them!
I too love my new header, I have the bestest hubby. :)
Oh and Michele I want to see those snow angel pictures! What are your
neighbors thinking of you now? You two are too crazy. I kept at least
three layers of clothes on at all times. :)
There is not enough money in the world to make me jump in frigid waters
like those people. Okay I lie - maybe a million dollars would inspire me.
