Round Robin - Vegetable

posted Saturday, 9 February 2008

I'm a little slow in my Round Robin this time.  My kids kept me a little distracted but they have all supplied me with flowers and plants for my birthday so you can bet I have been and will be taking a LOT of photos of flowers. :)  Being as I live in the frozen tundra (or maybe it just feels that way), I could not run out to the garden or down to the farmer's market so. . .

vegetable

Potatoes are my most favorite vegetable, or maybe that's corn.  Well I love them both a whole lot and if I could only eat two foods forever they would be it.  What you see above if what happens when we buy three 50 lb bags at one time.  As much as I love them I just couldn't get through them all in time.

It's the attack of the Killer Potato and I'm scared, so scared I'm shivering under my bed.  Maybe I should take this back to Okray Farms and they can use them to help make next seasons crop?

Look out! They're making a break for it! Fun photo, and very well executed. It reminds me of when I was first taught about sprouting potatoes, way back in nursery school. In those days, Mr. Potato Head consisted of all those plastic body parts stuck into a real potato!

Such a familiar look for potatoes. I have had many got that way. You can still eat them, or you can plant them in spring. I love potatoes too. And corn.

Oh those are scary. Kinda like the stuff growing in my fridge.

Hey, did you follow the lightbox iinstructions exactly so you have that size? are you using 2 or 4 lights and did you try any other bulbs before the fluorescent ones? Were they yellow? I posted a picture of my box with 2 lamps. I bought 75 watt Reveal bulbs. Too yellow. I couldn't find fluorescent ones at Lowes. Do you mind sharing info?

Thanks, R

My grandson is so jealous. He wants to plant a garden this year and is waiting for our potatoes to sprout.

LOL. I live alone so even one 5 lb. bag of potatoes can grow on me like yours. I have wanted to try growing them but don't have the room where I am. I wonder if there are any recipes that use the roots of potatoes... like bean sprouts or something. Thanks for sharing!

Glad I'm not the only one who lets them sprout! Cheers
