I waited until the last possible moment, hoping to find a tree budding or a flower blooming, and although we have had several warmer days (upper 30s, lower 40s) there is still plenty of snow to go around and no budding in sight.
Just a week ago that snow pile reached the white line and you could not see the grassy - albeit dead - median.
As you can see, we are left with dirty roads and nasty looking snow. This, and puddles and squishy ground, are reasons I hate Spring in Wisconsin.
Benches still can’t be used, plenty of snow abounds. But as it melts and compacts things reappear that have been hidden from view since November.
Ponds are still frozen. While I still see ice fishing going on, I also see some lakes/rivers thawing and I wouldn’t want to walk on water right now.
And, it is snowing again (all these were taken on Friday, March 21st). But we’re lucky, we’re supposed to only get a couple of inches. South may get a foot. This is the shopping center where you can get food prepared by a Chef who trained with Emeril.
So I returned home to the warmth of my house and show you my seedlings. The above are cactus babies.
I planted these Zinnias at the same time but they are much taller. If the spring won’t come to me by golly I’ll make my own spring.
Hop on over to the other Round Robins and see some places enjoying a springier Spring.

All lovely, but I particularly like the tulip photos.
Snow is disappearing *snff sniff* But then, to give place to the beautiful
flowers. The love season is near, so beware :p Love those pink tulips! They
are tulips, right?
Love the tulip shot. I was getting a little depressed as I went down (with
all the snow), but when you showed the little bitty seedlings popping
through, I got my smile back. Your zinnias reminded me, I should have got
them started already, I'll have to do that.
Beautiful tulips. I hope you'll post your cactus and zinnias when they get
bigger. We've got short sleeve weather down here at least in the daytime
now. And our Bradford Pear Trees and Cherry Trees are in bloom. A lot of
the neighborhoods around me line the streets with them, so it's a really
pretty drive for a couple of weeks.
Love what you came up with. The seedlings are a sure sign of desperately
seeking Spring. I was wondering what "Spring" you'd show in your
snow-bound state. I heard there's more on the way this weekend.
Looking at the snow made me feel cold! I had to immediately look out my
window at the sunshine and the spring flowers here. ::whew:: Enjoyed the
photo show. The tulips are a beautiful color.
At least with the dirty snow, you know it won't be long until those cold
dark days are over, and pretty soon the sun will bring all kinds of beauty
to your surrounding. Like those pink tulips. You got a really nice angle on
those, pink is my favorite color, so my eyes just drank in all that beauty.
:)
Your outside photos look like around here. Actually, so do the sprouts,
but I don't have cactus babies and I just planted Zinnia's a couple days
ago.
My grandson and I just planted our seeds day before yesterday. I hope our
seedlings do half as well as yours are.
Great shots! I really like the baby cacti and the tulip. Sounds like you
have even more snow than we do here in Colorado. But I really love all
those first signs of spring! :D
I have never lived in Wisconsin, but I have lived in cold places, like
Spokane, and I remember the melting and dirty snow. To me, your seedlings
are lovely and defy the signs that still remain of your winter outside.
Very neat photos!
Perfect photo´s again , Lisa! I like the tulips!Have a nice easter weekend!
I like that -- just make your own spring! Great attitude -- oh and nice
photos too :-)
It's snowing again here, too, so I know what you mean about having a hard
time finding sping things. The tulips are beautiful, and I really love
macros of the sprouts. Very nice!
I have a couple of cuttings that are ready for pots. One is an ivy - the
other some sort of flowering something or another. My gardening is limited
to the windowsill as I live in New York.
You have lovely photos here.
Enjoyed my visit.
The tulip shots are lovely, but my favorites are the seedlings. They seem
to symbolize the hope that spring brings.
Ugh, I am originally from up north and hated the grey dirty snow springs.
love maryland springs although not much has bloomed yet. i also garden but
haven't dared to start stuff inside. Also love the mouse pics, so cute!
Lisa,
Your tulip pictures really do capture the emergence of spring.
I am honored that you want to add my fledgling blog to your blog roll.

Oh, this is excellent! It actually makes me nostalgic for horrible cold
spring days outside Syracuse, New York, with the brown sandy snow-ice and
the crusty or half-melted snow elsewhere. (I wouldn't want to live there
again, though!) The pond shot in particular is beautiful and desolate. And
good for you, with the making your own spring sequence!
Absoutly love the beautiful tulip photos. Wish we had some in our yard.
a little green house (hot house) would be fine to have to get a start on
spring. Sat a.m. I woke up with runny nose -- because of the smudge pots
in the valley. trying to keep the fruit blossoms from getting "bitten" as
it was in the mid 20's.
OH, I love love love the first and last photo (the tulips!) LOVE them.
Spring looks much the same around these parts too...although finally most
of our snow has melted (leaving behind that lovely brown soggy mess).
WOW! Those tulip shots are spectacular, especially that first one. Great
angle! I'm just ignoring the snow ones ;-)
