This elk kept getting closer and closer, hissing all the way.  Needless to say, I backed up.  Then I ran walked quickly and grabbed the other camera with the less zoomy lens and finally was able to get all of him in a photo.  I'm still not sure if he really liked me or really didn't like me.

CUT IT OUT!!! This is your friggin' yard? OMG! That is AWESOME! WOW! I am amazed at the fact that you have these animals in picture taking, hisssing, run for your life proximity to you!!!!

Oh, no, I'm sorry not in my yard. They were in a fence though and the blurry one is to show just how close he got to that rusty, flimsy looking piece of wire between us. That lens won't focus under 5 feet. He was less than 5 FEET away! Then he rubbed his rack on the wire and I was gone. :)

Wow, I would have run, too. I would have been tempted to just shoot the other pictures from inside my car! Beautiful pictures of the bison.

I've never seen an elk do that; what did you say to him, haha. We used to jump in the Bison pen at the zoo when I was a kid. They were forever pulling us out of there.

You shouldn't use that technical photography jargon with us laymen. "Less zoomy lens"

A few months ago, it was a big friggin' deal when the state of Michigan decided to post elk-crossing signs along one stretch of the freeway. Made the news and everything. I still don't understand why it was such a big deal, and I still don't understand how to tell the difference between and elk-crossing sign and a deer-crossing sign.

I love the texture in the bison's fur. The winter coats on the animals look so thick and luxurious, I guess they'll be warm despite the snow. It makes me think I should head out to an outdoor animal park since my backyard doesn't have squirrels let alone elk anywhere near it.

That is one determined elk, I gotta say. He really did get close! And he looked a bit - emotional. I'm not sure if that was anger - or interest. (;

Thanks for the visit to my blog - here's a visit for yours! (= Only fair, right? (= Heee. I love photos. So much fun to look at. (; (How is that 5 million dollar home?)

Animals seem to get bigger as you go westward. Great shots! I've never seen the teeth of an elk before. By the way, I have a theory about animals and cameras: in addition to the camera looking like a gun, I think they react to the auto-focus beam. Happy WW.

Yep, if the Elk are hissing, I'd be high-tailing it out of there. There's an Elk farm just outside of the small town I live close to and I've gone and taken pictures when the owner was there. Hissing = you are too close for their liking. And if the Elk are hissing and grinding their teeth too. Run faster.
