CUT IT OUT!!! This is your friggin' yard? OMG! That is AWESOME! WOW! I
am amazed at the fact that you have these animals in picture taking,
hisssing, run for your life proximity to you!!!!
Oh, no, I'm sorry not in my yard. They were in a fence though and the
blurry one is to show just how close he got to that rusty, flimsy looking
piece of wire between us. That lens won't focus under 5 feet. He was less
than 5 FEET away! Then he rubbed his rack on the wire and I was gone. :)
Wow, I would have run, too. I would have been tempted to just shoot the
other pictures from inside my car! Beautiful pictures of the bison.
I've never seen an elk do that; what did you say to him, haha. We used to
jump in the Bison pen at the zoo when I was a kid. They were forever
pulling us out of there.
These are amazing, Lisa. Just beautiful. He was playing hard to get, I'd
say!
They are absolutely awesome!
And yes, I would have backed up too :D
Yep, I would've been a tad bit nervous, too. I LOVE the buffalo shots.
They are awesome creatures.
You shouldn't use that technical photography jargon with us laymen. "Less
zoomy lens"
A few months ago, it was a big friggin' deal when the state of Michigan
decided to post elk-crossing signs along one stretch of the freeway. Made
the news and everything. I still don't understand why it was such a big
deal, and I still don't understand how to tell the difference between and
elk-crossing sign and a deer-crossing sign.
Wow.. you have those animals in your yard? That's soo cool.
Those are amazing shots! I'd be absolutely terrified of that elk though, oh
my god. He does not look happy.
Aw man...this makes me nostalgic for my trip out west. I miss being out
there so much! :)
Holy smokes!! My hubby would LOVE these picts.....I think I would be
running away too!!! YIKES!!! Happy WW!!
omg, I'm scared! No kidding I am! I haven't seen one for real, and it looks
like it's about to jump at me from the monitor!
The hissing elk was classic! Nicely done.
Fantastic pictures! A great post, without a doubt.
He's actually a gorgeous boy and he was just smiling for his close up!
They're all wonderful pictures.
And you saw all these animals in real ?? Wonderful ! I love the smile of
the Elk, lol !
It looks ready to charge at you already! I'm glad you took off SOON! Those
were awesome pictures you've taken :)
Happy St Valentine's Day!
He's very mad!!!
Wow, great pictures, all of them!
Are they in your backyard? Amazing!
I love the texture in the bison's fur. The winter coats on the animals look
so thick and luxurious, I guess they'll be warm despite the snow. It makes
me think I should head out to an outdoor animal park since my backyard
doesn't have squirrels let alone elk anywhere near it.
That is one determined elk, I gotta say. He really did get close! And he
looked a bit - emotional. I'm not sure if that was anger - or interest.
(;
More lovely shots. If you hadn't said the elk was hissing .... I would have
said grinning as he was coming to get you!!!
Those are really beautiful shots, but I think I'd pass out if I saw those
things heading towards me!
Animals seem to get bigger as you go westward. Great shots! I've never seen
the teeth of an elk before. By the way, I have a theory about animals and
cameras: in addition to the camera looking like a gun, I think they react
to the auto-focus beam. Happy WW.
This is awesome! I would say unless he is playing hard to get, you don't
seem to be his type. :)
Wow~ those pictures are awesome, and my kids enjoyed them too!
Thanks
Wow! Great pictures! I would've run, too! Which would have been really
funny seeing me run, in snow, from a huge animal hissing at me...
those photos are awesome!!! The elk are priceless!
That's a whole lot of bull...I mean Bison. :)
LOVE these photos! The bison is gorgeous. The elk pictures are funny, but
not funny that he was hissing at you...that would have scared me too!!
Wow! Haven't seen an Elk yet. I'll have to plan a mountain trip soon! Nice
shots :)
These just may be my favorite photos this week! lol!! Nothing like an
animal hissing! lol!
I've seen buffalo and elk up close, but these are the best pic. How far
from Plover do these big guys live?
Yikes! That elk does indeed look scary! Happy WW, & thanks for the visit!
Oh my gosh! Yeah, I would be gone too. Your post reminds me of Pioneer
Woman and all her photo-posts. Do you read her? She is a crack-up and is
starting a photoshop blog in march. Here is an example of one of her posts
yours reminded me of:
You've got very lovely photos here. they are so beautiful but i am scared
to get too close of those kind of animals though lol! Have a good day!
Those are outstanding shots, but you could not get me to be that close to a
hissing animal.
You have such interesting things to photograph over your fence don't you!?
It beats snowdrops and gorse bushes hands down! ;)
ooohh cute cute cute!
Awesome pictures, the detail is incredible!
Wow, those are some big kitties.
Wow! That's a little too close for comfort! Great photos!
I love going to Grants Farm and seeing the Buffalo, they are SO beautiful!!
That third photo has fabulous detail, Lisa. And that you describe the elk
hissing is perfect given the teeth it was showing you.
Very Nice Pictures, Buffalo as great, we have them out here too.
You were braver than me, I would have freaked and ran inside right away. I
know better than to mess with mother nature... lol :)
Great pics!
OMG Lisa! WHAT on earth did you say to these guys?? The one with the
teeth...too funny!! GREAT pics! I feel like I go to a museum each time I
visit your blog....you are such a great photographer!!
Those are awessome pictures! The Elk looks pretty pissed! Years ago I had
a friend who got chased by an Elk...scared the *&*^ out of him and he
ended up hiding in a phone booth.
Oh boy, he looks really angry. Happy WW.
oh WOW...those photos are gorgeous. I really enjoyed them.
Scary!! I never knew that Elk could hiss!! But, the pics are gorgeous as
usual!
The bison are beautiful but those elk are SCARY! Wow!
Wow, before I got to the part in your post where you told us about the elk
hissing at you I was already thinking "that is one mean looking
creature"...add the hissing and I would have been running for my life.
Forget the pictures! ;-)
Wow...this are great pictures! Wonderful!I like the smile of the Elk!
Yikes!!!! The lengths you'll go to for a good shot! Stupid me thought he
was a reindeer...yeah, well, in Florida we don't get elks! I like the
buffalo, too (We DO have buffalo here, believe it or not!)
OMG! That looks so scary but the snow is beautiful! I love the second to
last shot. I've got a soft spot for the in focus/out focus photography. But
wow, I would have peed!
You are such an amazing photographer! Those photos are phenomenal!!! Aren't
they all just such beautiful creatures? The hissing photos cracked me up.
You are brave!
WOW, very very cool shots. I love those animals and the clarity of the
shots!
Wow--your pictures are STUNNING! :)
WOW! those photos are awesome as are the subjects! yeah, I would have been
running :)
Awww, they look so cute and fuzzy! Happy WW!
Those are awesome pics! I love how strong the buffalo look and the "smile"
on the elk. Amazing!
Yep, if the Elk are hissing, I'd be high-tailing it out of there. There's
an Elk farm just outside of the small town I live close to and I've gone
and taken pictures when the owner was there. Hissing = you are too close
for their liking. And if the Elk are hissing and grinding their teeth too.
Run faster.
Wow! Fantastic shots! You must have been pretty brave to get those of the
elk. I ran away when confronted by an armadillo this weekend.
It looks like he is trying to smile for the camera. I bet the spray from
his nasty smelling mouth gave a whole different picture to his intent.
Those reindeer must be British! Look at their teeth!
I think that elk just really wanted to have his picture taken - see what a
nice smile he has?
Looks like he really didn't like you. Great shots though. I've never seen
an elk baring his teeth like that.
