Last summer I went to a podiatrist because my feet hurt so much and so often. He told me I had Tarsal Tunnel and gave me some exercises to do. They didn’t help. But I’ve found something that has.
I spent years with feet that hurt with my first few steps of the day and ache in the evenings, sometimes so much that I avoided walking. I also occasionally got pain in my left knee and/or hip. But, about 3 months ago I took a leap. I had seen these ugly shoes everywhere and hated them almost as much as I hate Utube.
I thought they were the ugliest things I had ever seen, in fact I still do. But after seeing so many people in them, I finally asked a friend how she liked hers and if her feet sweated in them. She said she had foot problems and they helped and that no, her feet didn’t sweat unless she went with the knock-offs cheap brands.
It took my husband quite some time to convince me shell out $30 for a pair of shoes that I already had in my mind I hated. Even as I picked out a color I wondered if I would actually wear them. Guess what. No really guess.
I’m on my second pair of them. I totally wore the first pair out hiking (hey I‘ve walked a lot of miles doing 1000 caches). Since the first day I put them on they are the only shoes I have worn. No more aching feet. I can get out of bed in the morning and not feel like I’m stepping on glass. My hip and knee haven’t hurt once either. I never really believed that a shoe would make me pain free, but it has.
I did put on a different pair of shoes yesterday, because of the rain and my hip hurts today. I am now worried about what I will do this winter, when a couple of feet of snow is on the ground and I can’t wear my Peacock Cayman Crocs anymore. Maybe the Georgie would work. Do you think they would consider making a snow boot so I would be able to constantly wear Crocs?
Well, it's simple really....just relocate to where it is spring and summer
all year long....Hawaii sounds like a great place, don't you think? :o)
They maybe ugly but I love them for the very reason you give. In the uk
they cost the equivelent of $60 so when I was on holiday in Canada back in
july I bought back 4 pairs (not all for me I might add; my daughter and
grandaughter both got a pair)
I've avoided Crocs too because they're clunky, and I worry about my feet
sweating. But, I keep seeing photos of how people have modified theirs,
with paint, hole punches, stitching, buttons, etc. and they're cute.
I still think they are ugly - just like Birkenstocks, which I call
Flintstone Shoes. why can't they create a comfy shoe that is attractive?
I loce crocs, and I have them on all the time too! It also helps that my
husband sells them at his store so we get them for less $.
I can so relate to that. My daughter got a pair months ago and tried to
persuade me to get some. I refused as I hated them and thought I'd look
stupid. The only thing I thought they would be good for was putting the
rubbish out. In France we spotted some fake crocs for €9 so I bought them
(for putting the rubbish out) and once I wore them they stayed on! I now
have a pair of crocs as well and am dreading the winter...but don't they
sell boots as well?
I bought my 3 year old a pair a few months ago and they are the only shoes
he ever wants to put on. I have always had a mind-set against them, but
after reading your blog and seeing how much my little one loves them, I may
just be forced to shell out the $$ and try a pair. I just wonder if I could
get away with wearing them to work ;)
I have a similar experience with foot pain. The podiatirst recommended
orthotics and exercise. I tried what the doctor recommended, but his
suggestons did not alleviate my pain A friend recommended trying Crocs.
Although the Crocs do not cure my affliction, Crocs and Teva sandals work
better than the doctor's suggestions. The $30 cost is cheaper than the $300
orthotics.
Oh, if only they weren't so ugly! I live in Florida - land of sweaty feet.
And my feet hurt a lot of the time. But I resisted Crocs... why would I
pay $30 for something THAT ugly? But then they came out with the flip-flop
type and I just decided to do it one day. I wear them almost every day
now. I feel like a total sell out, but my feet like them and they don't
like shoes in general.
I have not made the leap to these, I know everyone says they're the
greatest, but give me my Birkenstocks any day! Glad you found relief,
though. The getting up stiffness is all I experience thus far.
Oh I heart my 3 pairs of crocs..I have the flip flops the mary janes and
the ones that look like yours except green... I am like you once I started
wearing them I hardly ever wear any other shoes. Even my Birks aren't as
comfy anymore!! I would so buy snow crocs!!
I will have to give these a try. My feet hurt first thing in the morning
especially in the heel. You described the feeling perfectly...like
stepping on glass.
I always thought they were ugly, but if they help with knee/leg pain, I
might have to try them now! A ton of my friends have them for their
children, and I must say, they look adorable on toddlers. My little one is
a bit too small still (3 1/2 months) but i will certainly be getting him a
pair when he starts to walk.
CROCS ROCK!! Lisa!! I have the worst foot problems in the world...I
swear! I have rheumatoid arthritis and much of the time my pain is
experienced in my hips, knees, and feet. Finally I had a bone removed from
my foot and I thought I would never find shoes that "worked" for me. I
hated the look of crocs. Until I put them on in the store one day. Holy
Cow! I did an immediate turnaround! I am on my third pair now. I have
the pair like yours...only in pearl white. Then I have two pairs of the
flip flops. And now for the good news!! Check out crocs.com They have
FALL CROCS! Nice suede Crocs! And....FURRY LINED Crocs!! Woo HOO!! I'm
never wearing anything else!!
