Round Robin Photo Challenges only come around every other week, you should join us. My little lazy memory got in my way this week. I actually came up with an idea over a week ago, but I told hubby that if I went with that idea I would need to use the cheaper camera or do some washing first.
Then my week got filled with activities like shampooing carpets, two local geocaching events, one son's birthday (Haden is 16 now) and one son deciding it was time to spread his wings and move out. But this morning I dug my collection down from its perch above the kitchen cabinets and washed them up. And I think my collection meets the assignment of Variety Show given by Nancy.
In 2005, while wandering through antique stores I kept seeing enamelware coffee pots and thinking of my great-grandmother. I remember she had many pieces of enamelware, huge bowls, cup, pots, etc. So I bought a pot/pitcher, then another and another, then stumbled upon a few cute tea kettles I couldn't pass up and viola, a collection.
I'm sure you notice one odd one in amoungst them. On the right side, second one back, is a white percolator with little blue flower design. It has all of its parts and could be used if necessary, but I keep it because it was my paternal grandmother's.
Did you know, I don't drink tea or coffee?
I love your collection! I have always loved coffee and tea pots but have
never collected them. I think you may have started something here LOL Great
photo!
No, I did not know you didn't drink coffee or tea. Me, I'm a tea drinker,
hence Loves Books and Tea, as my book blog. I can't stand coffee, never
could. I use to have a collection of ceramic teapots. I got a lot of them
when I managed Crabtree & Evelyn stores, great discount. Over the years,
most of them have been broken or damaged, but that's what happens when you
use things.
My mother has/had? something with that blue flower design. I collect
teapots myself, so I love this shot.
Hi Lisa
Beautiful shot. I'm wondering what you drink without coffee or tea? Don't
tell me water! :)
Terrific collection! Browsing your site... you have some terrific photos!
I was going to say that the one you pointed out looks just like one my
Grandparents had!
I also LOVE the blue one!
I didn't know, now I do! :)
I love teapots too. And I don't like hot beverages. :-)
Cool collection! I’ve owned some of those ‘kettles’ in my day … used
mostly for ‘camping’ … but the ‘odd one that belonged to your grandmother’
is just like one my mom had when I was a teenager, but I have no idea what
happened to it ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
Lisa, If I ever dig into the depts of my storage (like I was supposed to do
over spring break, but didn't. In fact I've been meaning to do it for abot
10 years!!) ANyway, when I finally get to it, I'm going to beg for you
address and send you some things for your collection. I have some beautiful
coffee and espresso pots of my grandmothers from Italy. I just don't have
anywhere to display them and they sure aren't doing anyone any good packed
up in boxes. I'd rather give them to a friend who I know would enjoy them
:-)
Beautiful collection by the way!
What get catches you have here of all the birds.
They are amazing little creatures. I am try to do an oil pinting of a blue
bird...
Thank you for letting me visit. Very interesting...nice shots.Tj
That is a super collection. I remember my step-father's mother having some
of these pots. They had a certain 'smell' to them...in a good way!...that
will bring back memories if I happen to be at a garage sale and spot one.
I always must open the lid and take a good long smell. And trust me.
That's not always a good thing at a garage sale.
Your pot with the blue design is a 1960-1970's CorningWare percolator. I
have lots of CorningWare in that design from getting married then.
That is a great collection of enamel ware. We have a blue on just like
yours that sits on our wood stove. I have some other enamel wear also for
the same reason, because it reminds me of my baba's place. Great
collection.
What a wonderful and fun collection! Like you, I don't drink coffee or tea
and because of that I'd never have thought to collect these yet, I LIKE
them each has a different "personality".
